“You despise him you *despise me!”
In the 90s, I attended an evening fellowship at one of the Pentecostal churches in Kampala. As the preacher – a young man stammered through his sermon, I thought in my heart; “this guy is boring. I could do better than that!” Honestly, I despised him.
This brother did not know what was running through my mind. God did! Suddenly, I heard a clear voice in my spirit saying, ” … you despise him, you despise me! ” Instantly, I knew it was Christ’s voice! Why? Before I could even think about it, Luk 10:16 flooded my mind; “He who listens to you listens to me he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.”
In the moment of my prideful thoughts, I had no idea Christ was grieving! And in microseconds Christ had raised the bar of this brother’s position far above my misconceived and prideful understanding! Selah.
We ought to watch ourselves!
In the Gospels, people muttered how Jesus had “gone to be the guest of a sinner,” yet Christ was delighted because the Son of Man had “come to seek and save the lost.” Luk.19: 7-10.
Another time bad guys were buzzing around Christ laughing and enjoying dinner with him. The self-righteous were not impressed; They asked, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” Matt.9.11. The Lords answer should help take our generation to the *classroom! Our Lord replied, “… go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matt.9:13
In our generation, we speak a lot. We comment on anything, everyone and anyone. Without second thought, we attack any topic and throw comments. Some of our comments cannot pass the test of Scriptures! Often, we act this way because we assume some high moral ground. But to our shock, God may be having a different opinion!
Brothers and sisters, we know so little! Our limited knowledge provides no moral springboard for despising others or even saying some things!
Throwing the first stone _requires that the one casting it is *perfect! John 8:7
God has made this easy for us. Just follow this guide: ” in humility consider others better than yourselves. Phil.2:3
Let’s make our 🌎better.
