Jesus himself is good news
Isa. 61:1-2
those who are poor and they know they are blind
God has good news
those who are blind God has good news
those who are wounded, Jesus has good news
Isa.52:7 (How beautiful are the feet…)
the good news is that what ever we go through, God is still on the throne
The only way we can beautify out feet is by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus.

Exo. 3:7-8 (God saw and heard the suffering of the children of Israel)
Gabriel announced the good news of the birth of Jesus Luke.1-19.
Luke.8:1 God wants us to be bold in evangelism.

Who are involved in evangelism?
First, there has to be an evangelist
Then God puts his word inside  him (Equips)
When you receive that message (Salvation) God expects you to reach out to others with the same message. Besides being equipped as an evangelist, God also calls us to this ministry through the five fold ministry (Eph. 4:11)

Qualities of evangelists

  1. Must be born again (a child of God)
  2. Must be a person of prayer or intercession (Rom 8:26; 8:34)
  3. Must be a witness in the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts.1-8.)
  4. Must be a person of the Word of God (Colossians.3-16.)
  5. Must have a message 2Sam.18:21 
    1. The message is the gospel (1_Corinthians15-1.)
      1. That Died for our sins
      2. Christ was buried
      3. Christ rose from the dead according to the scriptures

It takes a living person to justify a living person, that is why Christ rose from the dead so that He could declare our justification.

We not only preach the gospel but also salvation 2Cor. 6:1-2
We also preach Christ (1Corinthians1:23)
We preach Christs’ Manifesto Luke. 4:18

Audience (What kinds of people are we speaking to)

  1. We speak to all (Rom.8:23); 
  2. Hypocrites (Mark.7:6)
  3. Lukewarm (Rev.3:16)
Objectives of an evangelist
  1. Desire a change in the audience
  2. Train witnesses (2Tim. 2:2)
  3. Prepare people to meet the soon coming King
Methods of Evangelism
How did Jesus do evangelism? 
  1. One to one (John 4, Jesus talked to the Samaritan woman on a one to one basis)
  2. Preaching through mass evangelism (John 4, The Samaritan woman called people to listen to Jesus)
  3. Teaching the word of God (Mathew 5 , If you hear this teaching, receive it and apply it in your life, you will be like a house built on the rock)
  4. House to house Evangelism (Luke 19:1-10, John 7)
Practicalities when doing Evangelism
  1. In doing Evangelism, focus on Jesus, but before you talk about Jesus, make sure you have Jesus in your heart. 
  2. Pray earnestly about the people you are to talk to. Talk to God about the sinners. 
  3. Appear good. Don’t make your appearance be a stumbling block, for example, dress honorably 
  4. Don’t attack people’s religions, there religious leaders, places of worship “Don’t attack Maria, Buddha, Mohammed”
  5. Show respect for the people you witness to
  6. Don’t complicate the gospel
